WiTricity can trace its roots as a company to its founding by a team from MIT, and we continue to have a deep affinity for pioneering research.
Today, the University of Auckland is an active participant in WiTricity research collaboration and continues its strong history in advancing wireless charging and wireless power transfer which began in 1990 by Emeritus Distinguished Professor John Boys. Today, this program is led by one of the pioneers of inductive power transfer, Professor Grant Covic. Working together with Professors Udaya Madawala and Patrick Hu and Dr Duleepa Thrimawithana, there are currently over 40 Ph.D. students working on wireless charging on campus in New Zealand.
