WiTricity Names Morris Kesler, Ph.D. as Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

WiTricity’s VP of Research & Development takes on new role as CTO to accelerate innovation and expand WiTricity’s technology portfolio

Watertown, MA. – Sept. 23, 2014 WiTricity, the industry pioneer in wireless power transfer over distance, today announced that it has named Morris Kesler, Ph.D. as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Kesler, who has served as WiTricity’s Vice President of Research and Development, replaces Katie Hall, Ph.D. as WiTricity CTO. Dr. Hall will remain associated with the company as a key technology advisor.

Being involved in WiTricity, and watching the development of highly resonant wireless power transfer from concept to a viable commercial solution, has been extremely rewarding

In this new role, Kesler will lead the strategic vision for the company’s foundational wireless power transfer technology. As part of the original WiTricity team, Kesler has been intimately involved in the evolution of WiTricity technology, from a concept demonstrated at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2007 to serving as the backbone of developing industry standards from the Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP) in the consumer electronics space and the Society for Automotive Engineers (SAE), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) for wireless charging of electric and hybrid electric vehicles. Part of Kesler’s responsibilities will be to ensure that WiTricity stays at the technological vanguard for wireless power transfer over distance via magnetic resonance.

“We’re excited that Morris will be assuming the CTO role and driving our technology vision going forward,” said Alex Gruzen, WiTricity CEO. “Morris’ deep experience in the wireless power transfer industry, as well as his ongoing work in developing wireless power transfer systems based on WiTricity technology, will allow us to maintain and extend our lead in technology innovations.”

“Being involved in WiTricity, and watching the development of highly resonant wireless power transfer from concept to a viable commercial solution, has been extremely rewarding,” said Morris Kesler, CTO at WiTricity. “I’m a firm believer that WiTricity technology will have a major impact in almost every aspect of our daily lives, and I’m excited to help drive the advancement, and adoption, of this technology.”

Dr. Kesler joined WiTricity in 2007 as Chief Engineer before being named vice president of research and development in 2013. Prior to joining WiTricity, he was a founder of Wide Net Technologies, which developed unique optical communication and sensing systems for both government and industry. Dr. Kesler holds more than 30 patents and has published over 40 technical journal and conference papers. He holds a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. from MIT in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
